Yukata (light cotton kimono worn in the summer or used as a bathrobe)
Yukata is a summer kimono for both men and women and is worn from July to August. Most are made of cotton.
Since it is the simplest kimono, it is not suitable for formal occasions and is often worn for evening outings, summer festivals, fireworks, etc.
Unlike a kimono, yukata are worn unlined, and can be worn directly over underwear and barefoot (without tabi or socks). However, they can also be worn with a lining and with socks depending on the occasion.
